While, in earlier times, people used to chew flavored resins or waxes, modern chewing gums contain many more ingredients – and have become an integral part of everyday life.

THE INGREDIENTS HAVE CHANGED

The basis of chewing gum is the gum mass. It contains synthetic thermoplastics, such as polyvinyl acetate or butyl rubber. While glycerin keeps the gum elastic, resins and waxes give the product the required softness.
Depending on the recipe, all ingredients are blended in mixing plants. The resulting mass is rolled, subsequently cut into servings, and processed further.

EVOLUTION CONTINUES

Nowadays, chewing gums are very versatile – and thus also higher in quality. They brighten teeth, fight bad breath, release nicotine into the body, and help against heartburn or dry mouth.
